2.8. X Workstations   

A standard workstation (as opposed to a PC or Macintosh) is normally a RISC based machine which runs Unix plus the X Window System, uses SCSI disks, ethernet, etc. Typical brands are SUN, HP, DEC and Silicon Graphics.

We will look at the X Window System in later lectures.
