1.6. CAD/CAM    



The use of computers in the design / manufacturing of objects.

This could be electronic circuit design, the cabling and piping within a

building, the construction of a small part or the full design of a car

with all its associated parts. The information in the drawing is

dimensioned by the drawer and this can then be used to drive machinery

to cut, mill, drill, lathe, press, etc material to form the object.

This is Numerical Control of machinery.
