1.5. Animation   

The generation of cartoon like images or very realistic

images by computers. Images are 3-D, coloured, shaded, animated.

Requires great processing power.

It has been calculated by Alvy Ray Smith that a ninety minute computer

animation piece at 3000 x 1500 line resolution would require about

250 years to produce on a Cray X-MP. This is longer than the calculated

MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure).
